Other applicable fire requirements remain. Owners should first provide the direction, floor count and use details to the relevant professionals or FSD, then compare proposals on the basis of confirmed applicability.
Assign installation, communications and monitoring roles
The circular's arrangement includes FSI and non-FSI components, signal transmission and monitoring services. A consumer smart smoke alarm is not, by itself, the complete alternative solution described by FSD.
Ask the proposal to name the parties responsible for devices, connectivity, the platform and maintenance. Clarify fault contacts, access to individual units and handover arrangements if the service provider changes.
Compare ongoing costs and access requirements
Compare installation charges separately from connectivity, platform, maintenance and replacement costs, and check the contract term. Device prices alone do not describe the building's ongoing management commitment.
Owners or the owners' corporation can gather access contacts and available times, then discuss phased arrangements with the team. Keep survey, test and open-item records for handover and future inspections.
